A pretty consistent theme with a lot of this authour's stories is someone's bad behaviour self sabotaging them into worse positions, so I won't be surprised if that is how it resolves the conflict.

You might've misconstrued my comment a bit. But, following the statement made in the manga, knowing how to whiff punish and learning to read your opponent are not indicative of a very high rank because it is simply something you will be doing far before you reach that level. So yes high level...
