no, you can see her room next to the entrance so i dont think her mom doesn't want people know about her. I think the halway used to be the entrance but because some reason they change the entrance next to her room. If think about that it make sense, the entrance between her room and her parent room and the entrance now be come a normal halway.
im thinking they sealed off the original entranceway that faces the main street
the mom wasnt concerned about her, she just doesnt want people to know the child lived there

This is what I think too.
My theory is that she is their second child. The family once lived in a more urban area, but an accident happened, most likely a car accident, to the first child. Sometime later, the mother became pregnant with her and because of the accident, they decided to move to a more rural area.

if think to that way then when they move to new house and make floor plan they have to put the entrance next to her room in first time not have to change the entrance from between 2 bedrooms into next her room and there won't have this halway.
I have theory that in the time when the house in building almost complete there was an acidient in the main street, they scary that their child gonna get acidient too so they moved the entrance and there we have the halway. That can explain her parent reaction when she ask about the halway
That my theory but still have some question about the money and the doll

Parents' beds right near the wall facing their kid's room...
Japanese houses aren't known to have thick walls, so they probably wanted to avoid any awkward questions about sounds.

lol this was also my first theory. but i don't think it would fit the tone of this series

Im curious about the Japanese style room. Normally it is positioned to overlook the garden. My guess is that her original room was the Japanese style room, which would make sense because her parents could easily reach her if there was a problem instead of having to walk a bit farther down the hallway. Her current bedroom was probably supposed to be the Japanese style room which is facing the garden. As for the dead end hallway I think it was originally intended to be the main entrance of the house.

Perhaps the garden area wasn't meant to be there. Maybe the house was designed to be rectangular, and the hallway was going to lead to a room which didn't get built.

I think two things happened.

1. The woman's room was supposed to be the living room. This explains why the living room is so far away from the house entrance.
2. Then, when building the woman's room, they planned to make a room on what is currently the garden area, but for whatever reason they cancelled the plan after the woman's room is finished, hence the hallway.

Well, still has many holes, but this is the best I can come up with.

Yeah no matter how you look at it, that garden probably used to be the front entryway. a house in that position would FACE main street. Also i feel a little uneasy about the parents and the childs rooms both having a doorway into the garden.....

If. I understand the plan right.
