Iirc the author abandoned the WN to work full-time on the LN version. The next Vol 15 of the LN is going to be the final book. Yes that's correct. The anime also covered LN Vols 5, 8-9 for its S2. The manga only covered LNs 1-4, same as S1 of the anime.

It's always fun to see Japanese takes on US superhero material from both Marvel and DC Comics (although I feel like people don't really seem to notice the DC manga much).

Especially when you compare to other titles like Death March to The Parallel World Rhapsody - anime only covered up to the 1st 3 LNs, but luckily the manga is still adapting the LNs to this day.

Oops, my mistake. Confused the evil dragon in Nea's arc with the dragon possession of this arc. But yes, one possibility is the anime S2 fits in LNs 3-5 into 12 eps to end with Usato gaining a new companion.

This black dragon arc is in LN 7, I don't think the anime's S2 can reach that point yet. They are likely to cover LN 3 (magic school arc) and LN 4-5 (Nea's arc), the question is how the anime will pace itself to cover both. Adapt both into a 12-episode season, or use only 1 arc?

I wonder how much content S2 can cover. 2 LNs just like the last one?

The writing here is proof that not every Isekai themed work has to be some lazy rehash of cheap cliches for self-insert appeal, provided the author puts some thought into the story. And yet somehow, the lazy rehash stories are still quite popular, esp. those that started as WNs.
