First of all... what in the holy fuck is with CRATERS IN WOOD SURFACES?! Not only that, but it has CRATERS right next to blown apart wood. Why... why did the mangaka do that?

Secondly, I was curious as to find the range to their country from Japan and thankfully the F-2s are a good example of that. With their exact loadout and no bags (I had to jettison the tanks in CMANO) you're looking at a ~374nm range. Meaning full range. So you'd have to have the target at 187nm at the absolute maximum.

Now, yes, Japan DOES have aerial tankers... but not very fucking many. And it wouldn't make sense to not have externals on the aircraft in that case.

That would make for the alternate theory being these F-2s took from really, really, REALLY close to the target country. Which... I doubt is the case.

And, oh, this is the absolute best-case scenario. You'd probably take more than 90 seconds to take off and get up to 12,000. And you'd probably use a shitload more fuel than what this represents, so much less than 187nm combat radius.

them taking off near them makes sense as their magic radar can't pick up anything Japanese in the first place cause it has 0 magic

they also blow up the enemy navy like a few chapters ago so they can really just be near the coast without anybody seeing them as long as they use the curvature as cover (so like 5km minimum)

Like Amariithynar said below, you need to look carefully at the layout of the runway on page 14. You can see the middle section are the wood planks laid on top of the rock/soil of the hill, while both rear and front end of the runway are extended from the hill by the wooden structure. So it's not wrong that the destroyed wooden structure shows the hollow below while the center most portion show broken wooden planks and craters from the ground below.

Because it isn't a crater in the wood surface, it's a crater in the rock below. You can see the splintered wood at the lip of the craters. We then can see the wooden lattice of the part extending off the ground in the foreground, being completely destroyed and super splintered.

No idea how you input things here, but it's way off base (first guess would be looking at speed and the fact you're saying you jettisoned tanks). They have a combat range of 627 nautical miles with a 1,247 lb. payload at 477 knots (548.55 mph) over 2.75 hours, with a combat speed of 1110 knots (1276.5 mph). External fuel tanks also almost double their capacity, from 1,073 gallons to 1,813 gallons. https://web.archive.org/web/2022100...SAC/F-16C_Block_32_Falcon_CS_-_March_1991.pdf

Yup. They're selectively bred for size to the point that they can no longer take off under their own power, and need to taxi for forward momentum before they can fly. As for the magic bit, pretty sure that it's in reference to internal magic, rather than a mage or cabal of mages needed to fly every single time; though, it could be they are enchanted, or their gear is enchanted, so it's a one-and-done sort of deal.
Their payload is more than 1,247lb, upwards of 6000lb. Each F-2 had 4 TERs with 3 mk. 82 500lb bombs each for a total of 12 + wingtip missiles with plenty of drag. The mangaka's art doesn't help identify if they occupy the 4 innermost pylons leaving no provision for the wing tanks or used the two middle ones and jettisoned their tanks. Although your PDF is for the F-16 which uses 370 gallon wing tanks while the F-2 uses 600 gallon ones, and both can also carry 300 gallons in the centerline tank too. But I'd question the lack of wingtanks on the F-2s and F-15, was it the mangaka's stylistic choice or the jsdf command, because if you take real world examples in the last 30-40 years, very rarely do pilots jettison fuel tanks even when emptied during war when there's the superiority advantage and only do so for emergencies or air engagements, because fuel tanks in modern jets are damn expensive. And even if Japan has entered a war time production, can the budget justify such expenditures? And now that I remember unlike the F-16 where the pylons are integral to the 370 gallon tanks and are jettisoned together, the F-2's tanks are separate from the pylon, jettisoning the F-2 wing tanks would leave the pylons behind but are not visible in the manga...

The supplemental magic for the wyverns is provided by magic stones buried under the runway, as described in the LN.

I can't imagine this interpretation of the Japanese military firebombing a city full of civilians, but if this had been WW2 Japan this whole country would be on the edge of being isekai'd.
Sorry but there's no bombing of civilians that will happen in the next coming chapters. Tho if someone died in the factories of Duro, well, those are collateral damages

They couldn't deploy Wyverns because the runway was destroyed? Why would a wyvern need a runway?
They don't have fixed wings like planes, they just flap. Surely the wild ones don't have runways.
it's fantasy...
besides it's already their "facts" that wyvern needs a runway
remember their wyvern carrier in the last chapter?? it has runway, no it needed one

tldr who knows why a wyvern needs ones, it's their world fanta---logic

Didn't we use A-1 Skyraiders and A-26 Invaders throughout the Korean war and Vietnam? Having slower bombers didn't matter much as long as your fighter jets have established aerial superiority, which is exactly what's happening in this chapter.
Yes, they worked as ground support and part of search and rescue. This is because they're much more fuel efficient compared to jets and thus have a long loiter time in the target or search area

pretty sure they stated earlier in the manga that wyverns need a running takeoff

The Japanese F-2 is basically just a modified/upgraded F-16, thus the PDF sourcing, just to note that the range shown was way off. You're right on the weight difference, though. Of course they could also just be flying in from carriers nearby- but I'll mark this down to the mangaka being more focused on the weapons and forgetting the fuel tanks.

Ah, interesting! Thanks for that information.
