Purple Mirror is the urban legend named in the chapter, but the mirror's appearance and rituals bear a more striking resemblance to the story of Pandora. Purple Mirror usually involves a hand mirror and simply remembering the phrase, while Pandora concerns a vanity like this one and a ritual of names.

Didn't notice the first time I read this but Asama must really love photography huh.

Like his exchange at the beginning with Inubousaki would have gone completely differently if he were someone who went out of his way to take spooky photos on purpose. If that were the case he'd have a lot more photos and they'd have overtly creepy subjects.

Instead it seems like those photos are an unwanted byproduct of him taking photos for non-occult purposes.

So basically, he chose to be a normal photographer even though a) it would be easier to sell photos as an occult photographer and b) it would be easier to avoid occult stuff if with another normal job.

the dead bugs, the forbidden name stashed away in the 3rd drawer and the otherwordly mother also are clearly inspired by pandora, seeing both of those storied referenced made an interesting chapter even better lol

Good storytelling. The art's technically imperfect, very much so, but the whole work shows how expressiveness and careful placement of elements can more than make up for that. Great news for those lacking confidence in their drawing skills, who still want to create comics -- work on your strengths, compensate for your weaknesses... other people have done it, and so can you!

This is one banger of a chapter. Looking forward to the rest.
