3. the whole widows thing: that was the dead guy's gene that they want to pass down so widows making baby with each others is totally pointless. And if what they need is the girl's then random new girl/guy would do, no need to specifically go for widows.
I'm assuming it is the genes of the widow's family they are after (since as you point out it would be pointless to do it for the deceased husband's family). As for why they match up widows, maybe they have a social taboo around widows remarrying or otherwise coupling with others, but there is an exception for other widows since both are in the 'same situation'. Not particularly logical, but wouldn't be the weirdest social convention I've seen (both in real life and especially in fiction).

It's always so funny to me how the chapters of this anthology manage to cram an entire volume's worth of exposition and plot into a single chapter. As always, I wish there was more time put into the character work instead of the plot, or, if so much time had to be put into the plot, that the plot be more original and compelling.

This was alright yuri for a oneshot and all, but what the fuck does this have to do with a villainess and being captured by a heroine? Nothing in this indicates one of them was a villainess or a heroine.
Let me attempt some mental gymnastics. If the plot was played straight (pun intended), then it would be a pretty typical villainess story where Carol’s villain origin would be her husband being like yeah I’ll never love you you were just a tool. But since Julius is actually a woman it subverts the trope and turns Carol into the heroine turning over the story’s plot and winning Julius’s affections instead.

Okay my two braincells can only conjure that much up

That Semi-Earl family have better technological advancements than the Magraves... And how can they hide such powerful magic of impregnation from the king?

I have several questions:
1. who the hell would set bio-metric lock to "tangible related to the guy who first owns this super weapon"?
2. baby making magic would be a lot more well-known, at least to the people that dealing with protecting country's border. And the country do look like they involved in a lot of wars (until recently at least).
3. the whole widows thing: that was the dead guy's gene that they want to pass down so widows making baby with each others is totally pointless. And if what they need is the girl's then random new girl/guy would do, no need to specifically go for widows.
Smh can't even suppot some women appreciating widows

If the uncle can send legions of orcs and a freaking dragon just for an assassination attempt, then I don't even wanna know what their actual army would look like.
