its almost like queer people tend to gravitate towards each other or something...
As a queer person I just gotta tell ya, this and that are different things.

I'd argue there is a very big difference between "taking place in the real world" and having a realistic story, the latter of which is what I believe you are looking for. James Bond takes place in the real world, but I wouldn't exactly expect realism from it.
If this series was trying to be a realistic depiction of gay people, I'd be more inclined to agree with your statement.
I also agree that a lot of yuri stories have a trope where everyone is gay. In fact, TV tropes has a specific trope page for this. It's fine to say that you don't personally like that trope (even I feel like it can be little overused at times), but you shouldn't correlate it to the setting.
Honestly it’s so they can have side-ships that don’t result in unrequited love. Yuri fans are here to see Yuri, so if you want more than one couple you either need to bend reality slightly to increase the concentration of lesbians in a given area, or add straight couples which often doesn’t go over well with the intended audience.Gotta be real, I don't much like when in yuri stories that purport to be in some semblance taking place in the real world, somehow magically everyone ends up being gay.
as another queer person, in my experience it would be weirder if <insert main characters> WERE the only gay ones in their groupAs a queer person I just gotta tell ya, this and that are different things.
"You've never mentioned being able to scissors like a professional before, yet here we after two whole days of it non-stop..."inb4 "You've never mentioned being interested in anyone before, yet your lips are touching mine. I wonder how I'm supposed to interpret this."
they laid down to rest midway through the puzzle and the last piece is stuck to their forehead or cheekHow can one person be on the verge of realising something right in front of their face and declare it impossible? It's like seeing a puzzle with all but one piece filled in and declaring the image impossible to figure out.
