No no the friend is onto something but kinda off of it too. You can be direct without being cruel and calling her “messed up” is a bit on the cruel side: Clearly she's a woman with little experience and no serious passionate suitors until later in life so her reaction is not unexpected.
That also means that it is difficult to sort through her feelings of what is “just animal” versus what is “honest founded emotion” since she literally never has before. Yes, she needs to analyze the situation and recognize that going further fueled only by the heat of the moment could lead to actual damage for both involved BUT it’s not some malformed shameful response to the situation that she should view as some foundational problem within herself.

Really hoping the friend has some nuance to her next couple of sentences, otherwise it’s like calling a person “messed up” for salivating over veal when they’ve only eaten gruel their entire life. She just needs to realize that there is STEAK out there, come on!
