From the sound of it, I think it was a local rather than a classmate.
Said person terminated the summon of MC so they were likely part of the people who used the summon magic in the first place.
Because, you know, why trust aliens when you can become king yourself by denigrating them?

Also, the fact that he takes power from his allies' deaths doesn't mean he has to kill them himself.
From what he said, he didn't. He grieved for them too. He simply passively benefited from their deaths.
