Jesus this whole thing really ended poorly for everyone involved. Sad stuff

crazy fuckin chapter, this arc really did not go in any of the directions i expected. genuinely unsure if it's like a "darkest before dawn" moment and somehow everything will work out, or if this arc really does just end with basically everyone dead... both seem very on the table for this series, it's just so idiosyncratic like that. it feels like the author isn't interested in subverting expectations, he just isn't interested in your expectations at all.

so is he actually the son of that god? or is he just some kid that the god imbued with something that makes golems animate, turning him into this strange superhuman semi-god? was he actually involved in the ranking process? there was some hints to that too... and is the ranking guy at the end just a random illustration, or a hint that he'll actually somehow get involved in all this too?
