I love the series, it started off all dark and depressing, and now it is so fluffy and happy. Every character she meets is a genuinely nice person.
I thought the system was clearly designed to not let ppl become citizens without exploiting them a lot first, but the sum that sounded so large (400k) should be doable to save up as a beginner F-rank 11-year old
adventurer garbage man in about half a year, daily meal expenses deducted. She was lucky to get free housing, or it would probably be longer... And it is still actually a long time working 4 days a week saving solely for that thing... But it is still surprisingly tame for achieving citizenry in a feudal society where I assume the laws and society heavily favours citizens.
Being a bit older or more skilled, would've allowed it much faster too, as you can do higher-paying work. While even if she picked less-paying work that doesn't involve waste and illnesses, it is still very doable in a reasonable timeframe.
It is not at all like a traveling
merchant (with a spicy wolf wife) having to work way into his (for the time-period) forties to afford citizenry and a shop.
In short: the currency is valued way less than I expected at first, and honestly seems more comparable to yen than other currencies - and even then it still seems valued a fair bit less (though food seems somewhat expensive. Probably because it is pre-fertilizer and power-tools).
