Thank you for the chapter! Didn't we already deal with mind control stuff and have a way to counter it?

It really feels like prolonging the story for prolongings sake.
Especially when the author said everything the pope does to change history for his benefit gets reversed. So it's like what's this crap then? This is like "having a cake and eating it too" type of thing.

What an annoying antagonist. He's not even being clever or subtle, but just using his authority and brainwashing to force things to go a certain way. A forced plot falls apart quickly. I guess it fits with his obsession with being at the "center" of the "prophecies", but like, he isn't even interesting.

edit: and when will we stop seeing "the pope is secretly evil!" trope? Never, I guess, as it's just too convenient.

Mind control spam is a dangerous tactic, once it's caught, you're doomed.

Who else has the authority to mess with a bunch of top nobles? It's that, the king / emperor or a bunch of terrorists / natural disasters.

The series really fails with having any usable antagonists.
Every antagonist so far has been entirely non-threathening by being a total and complete failure.
Like, I pointed it out in a past chapter how weird it was that the pope still supported Sheria or how her name was written, given that every last of her schemes had blown up in her face, like, the point where a reasonable antagonist would cut their losses and get rid of her was crossed really early.

And now, the plot is an unbelievable brute force. Even mind control, which is honestly questionable how it even was achieved, given that how publicly allied the pope was with Failure Heroine, like, how the hell is the papacy even remotely trusted by anyone in this kingdom? "Oh, suddenly the entire population forgets the previous stories and falls for this" like, the mind control stuff was rather known and connected to the Papacy via their failure of an agent that was, again, PUBLICLY CONNECTED WITH THEM!
Seriously. I'm very frustrated at this sham of a drama, given how obvious it seems that the pope's plan will also blow up in his face.
