Damn, this chapter hit hard, didn’t expect the timeskip at all. They have each other phones number, not being in the same year doesn’t explain why they didn’t talk at all in like 15 months :haa: The tanned gal friend was the kind of character that take action when things go sour like that, I wish she helped her friend to stay close with mc before they fell apart like this… even the teacher, why didn’t he do something when he saw them not being together at all suddenly ?
Feels rushed for sure, I hope it’s not a wave caused by an axe coming in 2 or 3 chapters…
Thanks for the translation

This fucking chapter. I HATE THIS FUCKING CHAPTER. Bullshit they had no chance to talk for 15 goddamn months.
They said they "hadn't properly faced each other" so I think they never talked about the Tsuchinoko thing.
BUT FOR OVER A FUCKING YEAR WHAT THE FUCK.

BULLSHIT MAPI WOULD ALLOW THAT SHIT.
This plot hole is the worst part honestly.

ALSO, NITTA IS HIS DAD!? question mark!?
Might be a relative or even family friend.

Jun's home life is also a mega downer, but people called that shit...
Yeah. That was super sad. but for copium:
Her room is clean. The house is also disordered but not "messy" - All the trash except for the latest drinking binge is bagged, dishes in the cink. The fact the trashbags is built up is because Japan is super anal about trash pickup & sorting and only certain types of trash can go out on specific days. So the message is "someone forgetful about cleaning" vs "complete implosion and neglect"
And I think then Jun mentions "Drunk days are calm days" she just means she doesn't get into arguments with her parent about her clothes/school when they're drinking.
So I guess "sad but not tragic"

They just wanted us to feel the same as the MCs. 29 chapters of fluff then everything came crumbling down. They had each other's contacts there's no way a school is big enough to never meet up. :haa:

Lonnng timeskip.

I knew there were a lot of hints things were bad for Jun, but this is worse than I thought. No wonder she was willing to keep a ridiculous lie going.

Please keep this going a bit longer, mangaka, you want a year of maturity in high school so let's see it.

That was really dumb. This chapter was dumb by itself, this chapter is even dumber with the previous chapter in mind and makes the previous chapter completely pointless.

Not having the little lizard guy is dumb. What's even dumber is having a timeskip that long for literally no reason. Actually what is the point of a timeskip that doesn't meaningfully age the characters, doesn't meaningfully change the characters situations, and doesn't progress the world around the characters in any way.

This definitely reads like it's axed lol. Hope not.

But welp, I knew it, another shitty parent :|, and also his mother is really dead huh :\

And 15 months of no talking or seeing each other in the school, even accidentally? A little bit ridiculous feels like.

Anyway, we'll see what happens next I guess, hoping for happy end, if it's ending soon.

yeah my bad I was a dickhead

it's likely ending soon, but I wouldn't say it got axed, especially if we get more than 2 chapters(from 30). after all the lie was exposed, now we've just got reconciling and the tsuchinoko coming back left
If it got to this part naturally I would say it was planned to be a relatively short serie too, but the sudden tsuchinoko reveal, the time skip, the sudden revelation that gal home life is toxic too and otaku own situation still not being fully revealed + the teacher somehow knowing his mother before she passed and the complete shift in tone of the story and dissaperance of the supporting cast are traits I've seen in many axed stories trying to wrap things up.

Yeah, likely publisher’s shenanigans. Tomimura Cota’s other series about a penguin mangaka got moved from Mornings to Days, and my guess is that they only want one manga from the same author under their umbrella.

Maybe not the ”axe in one chapter” scenario like in KiseKoi, but it might not last beyond book 3 or 4 in the Tankobon (book 2 came out back in November). Pity too, it’s a good series.

No one mentioned the fact that Ichitaro-kun's mother died.... ç_ç

I think the series had done enough to kind of imply this up to now, so people probably weren't surprised enough by the confirmation to talk about it.

By the time we got to the chapter where he dug out his mom's flip phone to look at pictures/videos on it of her, I'd figured that she was gone.

Thanks for the translation!
