"We don't know the promises between them"
But Hario's words made me physically ill. Considering Hario usually being so supportive I have 3 ideas

1) He doesn't want to lose connections to Ema's family for some reason, maybe business?
2) He doesn't consider Ema's mother to be completely wrong that she's dependent and helpless alone, so she should be able to deal with some of her words
3) He's not taking Ema's feelings seriously

I cannot think of a good faith reading of that interaction, but there's so much missing context.

I can't help but think that it doesn't matter if there's any good faith coming from Hario if he doesn't see what Takara's seeing.

Maybe the husband simply met her when she was already at a low and never saw the version of her from before that like Takara had. For Takara this is a five alarm fire situation and for him this is how she always is. She hasn’t shown her husband the person Takara knew and still sees in there.

Unless it turns out he has horrible motives we’ve yet to know to me it still just looks like he’s an ill-fitting bandaid.

Man Ema had it rough this chapter but so did Takara. I've been in that situation of knowing something is wrong with a companion before but feeling frozen out of just not close enough to be unemotional support to get them through it.
I'm glad her and Ema are leaning on each other (literally!) by the end.

Thank you so much for this chapter - such perfect timing! I was thinking just yesterday that I really missed this story and was hoping there'd be a chapter soon! Much appreciated! :coffee:

Seems to me like Hario just wants Ema to hold her head high and prove to everyone else that she can do the things she set her eyes on. Ema's mom thinks she's useless, Kanon thinks she lacks confidence, and then there's Takara who also thinks Ema can be weak but is fine with that. Compare them all and it is only Hario who wants Ema to change for the better.

Tbh I am getting bored of this. I feel like we are just going over things again and again. Ema is struggling with self-confidence, Takara is suffering from her one-sided love, and Hario is shown to be a decent guy. Unless things happen to shake the dynamic up, I might have to wait until this completes before reading.

Hmmm well at least the mom wasn't saying where's my grandchild, so I was wrong about that.

So we got some more information breadcrumbs.

ough... what an emotionally exhausting chapter this was (in a good way!), I love to yell "fight on!!" in moments like this but I love even more that Takara is fully ready to accept the possibility of Ema not wanting to keep pushing forward with all of this

binged all of these chapters today in between errands and such, happy to have stumbled on this and caught up so, thanks for the chapter(s)!!!

incredible work as always Arka!

re: Hario and Ema, I think it's perfectly possible he thinks it's better for Ema to tough it out for one evening if it's supposed to be her store, while still trying to support her while she's feeling down. I'm not sure if that's the right strategy necessarily, but I'm not sure that leaving mid-event and asking Hario to take care of it would preserve her self-confidence either. What is clear is that Hario didn't know how to deal with her mom, and preferred to keep the peace instead of support Ema in breaking it off with her decisively. Hopefully Takara will help her do just that.
