I wonder how far we are already on the plot derailment chart. The series has derailed so hard, I don't even remember the original premise or what the first couple arcs were. It almost feels natural to think about this series with the overly op mc just chillin and goofin off everynow and then and where his sister has collected a magical girl inspired entourage and is now battling the central enemies like it's a exposition duel. It's so wild

The level of plot derailment (supposed to be filler) ended up derailing so hard it's like the derailment crashed and destroyed multiple towns, and somehow launch itself into middle of ocean.
And that's rather amusing that keep me to still checking up on this work despite all the mess.

It's 100%. Every show like that can use a goofy, Team Rocket-like villain trying to interrupt the protagonist. It wouldn't have been a complete Magical Girl Experience without it. There are certainly countermeasures, so they are never in real danger - it's like a very realistic amusement park ride.
