It's one thing I kinda has a mix feeling about with this manga. The process of making any cure/balm/potions/etc. are always very detailed, yet they're most, if not all, are just make up bs that doesn't really mean a thing other than there are a lot of fantasy ingredients in this thing, but mostly MC already have them at hands so... no wild goose chase needed, just gibberish.

On one hand its world building; on the other, we are just burning through pages here. However, even if it was to convey that the cure is labor intensive to make, silent pages can achieve the same, so...

Maybe a better way to handle this is to explain the back story for each ingredients with some semblance of logic behind why they have that effects? What comes to mind is Ancient Magus' Bride that I felt handled it well; though it was in the early chapters and it was years that I read them so I might have embellished how it was handled in my mind. Anyway, it requires author to have crafted a very intricated world that 90% of the content there will probably not be used so I kind of understand on one hand, but a bit bothered that it looks half-baked on the other.

I don't remember the elf's actual age from the original story, but in most fantasy titles, elves are long-lived and near immortal. So in theory, she could be 1000 years old, like Frieren. 😉

Like people have said above.... It's not, HOWEVER, that part takes quite a while to happen and it's kinda like "If it's for my Daughter I'd Defeat the Demon Lord". It's a slow build-up over quite a bit of time and by the time it happens it's just a natural progression and you'll actually be in favour of it....

This is a romance between an apothecary and the haggard elf whose life he saved. That's the premise of the story. No amount of copium will alter the inevitable trajectory of these characters falling in love with one another.

It's not really an age thing but the idea of her automatically having to be the mc's wife because he saver her, and it can't just be good friends or a familiar relationship
