This is actually the best outcome, though. Arumi is out of energy, so she can't really do anything. The basket user is also out of energy, so it's currently a 1 on 1. If Hijiri can defeat the stamp user, getting Arumi to safety is trivial. Even if she can't, the curse allies will have a hard time getting Arumi out of there while Hijiri's still around. Let's also not forget they're still within enemy territory, so the longer Hijiri can stall them, the harder the mission gets.

If they had gotten Hijiri instead, that'd be the end. Both the stamp user and puppet Hijiri would have a much easier time breaking Arumi out of there.

Ok but why is a stamp able to buff him and double his strength? The liquor tsugumomo MC has uses a similar ability, but I feel like that one makes a reasonable amount of sense. Is it because the guy is a basket/fabric man?

I guess there's the other bad guy who uses ink to turn people into giant monsters and can basically shape-shift his body into anything, so apparently any drawing or ink-based tsugumomos have magic ink that can basically just do anything lmao

The powers of tsukumogami in this series are quite symbolic at times, probably so even a more mundane tools can have a variety of strenghts pools to pull from. So a tatto of power, or a sorta stamp of aproval/disaproval are also possible and magically binding/influencing.
