Because plot has to happen. If every protagonist exercised their right to remain silent when appropriate, there would be no stories. Unfortunately most writers just arent good enough to write assertive protagonists.I don't see what his problem is. Who he's living with is none of his coworker's business and theres nothing wrong with him rooming a kid if they know each other and she has her parent's permission.
Why do none of these protagonists of older/younger romances realize that they're only making it weirder by acting all nervous and secretive about it.
That may be so but, regardless of all that, it will still look suspect. Especially to people who'll look for any and all reason to condemn him or to gossip about anything. Not to mention, though true in this instance, "Don't worry, we have her parents permission" seems like an excuse. Has the same air as "No! I didn't do that! My brother was on my computer and he did it!", know what I mean?I don't see what his problem is.
