I understand the thought process behind it though.Glad this is a work of fiction, imagine the rage if the people who mutilated her arms does not get retribution.
And in the world of supernatural forces, karma exist. A moment of emotional impulse might just lead to a lifetime of generational curse for wretched behaviour of repaying kindness with malice. Would have been more satisfying for the readers if the author showed the consequences of a missing healer due to their own actions.I understand the thought process behind it though.
Imagine for a second you are one of these peasants. You know the rage, despair and grief you felt at the loss of your own family. You know what you would do if you had the power to take revenge or address the situation.
Now here is a person who is literally a walking WMD. They can conjure forces which you are helpless against at the drop of a hat. No matter how good of a person you know them to be, you know the pain and suffering of watching your family die in front of your eyes. Even worse, you know you and your fellows are the one of swung the blade that killed them. Knowing they feel the pain you do, but have almost unfettered access to power? That sort of fear would drive most people to very bad things.
Of course, for us readers with distance to the situation and being inside of the head of the character in question knows it won't happen and can feel just how fucked up and wrong it is, but that is the power of the 4th wall and distance from the situation at play.
Might not have been the best choice but it was what Magnolia believed it would help her lover the most. As Vassago said, foolish, so tragic, and yet so precious.eradicating the person he was is just utterly disgusting. denying a persons life by deleting every reason he had to live is nothing but humiliation. this chapter felt really repelling. and the husband should have taken revenge on the villagers. so why didnt they cut off his arms too? they mutilated his wife. he had all the reasons for murdering the villagers too.
and she just swapped her loved one out for a cheap illusion...
Are you stupid? Your very fact disapproves your point. A walking WMD could have killed you if she didn't willingly submit herself. They abused her kindness. Next factor being Ronnie, if this wasn't Japans medieval paradise, Ronnie would 100% kill all the villagers by just shitting in the well. At medieval times a wound is enough to kill, what are they gonna do call a healer? Just her existence is proof enough for no healer to ever come to this village. Not to mention the kingdom would wipe the village as treason if news reached out they attacked a healer they pardoned in Leu of disownment.I understand the thought process behind it though.
