It's pretty clear the author is leading towards Reina not actually cheating and the MC misunderstood and is dismissing any explanation she's been trying to give. The only thing Reina has confirmed was that they held hands but it could be the other guy coming onto Reina and her never reciprocating. It'll probably circle back to how MC's relationship with Ayaka was basically him emotionally cheating on Reina and he was the one originally at fault.
