A bit confusing when so many people are involved in the current storyline all together. I can't tell if they are bringing everyone together so it can wrap up or not. Will be glad to see the play over with and the focus returning to the successful formula:

Akebi family => a quartet of school chums => yuri duo ==> repeat.

I'm a little confused, too. But you can't judge an arc until it's over. Who knows where the author's mind is going, but that's why they are the creator and we are just the audience. This manga's aesthetic seems to be that it's never in a hurry to get anywhere - it's all about the details of the journey.

I'm not sure why this chapter had to be here when we were building all this anticipation for the date. Why was it vitally important to convey this information now, instead of before the date or even after it?

Loll they basically said ask for permission afterwards. That's what the Prez said, they're basically gonnna ask for permission for the class cafe and pretend that's where it happens. But it's just the start, they're gonna use the entire school eventually and if they get in trouble, they'll just say sorry.
