It's a generic setting but a bit more earnest with its protagonist and story than most... Like we're not immediately having our cake and eating it, and the MC is more relatable than written as a self-insert, which makes me like it. Could be wrong though~

This feels, super generic. With the usual MC who's mistaken for weak by everyone and himself and keeps being sidelined compared to the "cool" people.

I do also want to ask is the Webnovel bad? Because I was going to read it.
It actually won awards. Honestly I don't think it was the best, but it was generally a solid Shounen story. Once the real story starts up (it takes a while), it has Demon Slayer vibes though probably not as good, at least in Web Novel form.

The light novel (and thus Manga) were massively edited so I'm hoping they've gotten rid of some of the annoying/lackluster parts and kept what made it good. And by massively edited, I mean this entire chapter and story arc doesn't exist in the web novel.

So the dungeon in the backyard was almost 1:1. From there it deviates wildly.

After his female friend said she was becoming an adventurer with the other guy and chastised him for being lazy at the beginning, they never meet again (as far as I read anyway, which was like 40-50 chapters). He joins a shady dungeon group and meets the leader's sexy onee-san daughter who he becomes close with. They train him and become like a second family to him. He's taken to the Black Dungeon Research facility to meet the Owner's ex (iirc?), who accurately measure's MC's mana and it's the highest on record but he can't use the magic stones everyone else uses as they're incompatible with his current powers. Then he's taken to the Black Dungeon itself that is "unprofitable and no one goes there" to train and he's super compatible with it.
Marked as spoiler just in case any of this comes up later down the line

You mean it avoided the horrible "MC's power level is so high everyone thinks it's super low" trope. Just to introduce that in the manga adaption, and now he gets to do all the work, save everyone, just to get zero recognition and be treated like he's useless and others benefit?
