I could see that perhaps the uploader submitted this when there wasn't already chapter 5 from Senko-San's posted (I saw another series in teh last few days that had an apparent snipe but a site admin popped in to say that the supposed duplicate chapter had been stuck in the approval queue for weeks for unspecified reasons, meaning it significantly pre-dated the other chapter that popped up before it)

but that doesn't really explain why someone would jump on a series that is being attended to regularly by another group and has had multiple chapters posted in the last few weeks.

There are dozens of series out there that have been left to rot by vanished/disbanded groups or drops. Any of those would make far better practice targets because it would probably get more slack from the audience that's just happy to have anything posted for that series. In that case everyone wins. Doubling up on something that's being done and done well on a current schedule only invites scorn.

This was well done in terms of translation/typesetting/cleaning/all that but like everyone else in this thread I do question why do it on a series that already has a group actively working on it

It takes MD staff a good few hours to approve a users first upload. It's possible this was submitted and uploaded first... I guess. I won't ruminate on why though haha

You can't do that in a broad, all-encompassing way that knows when you've read something and knows to exclude duplicates. The closest thing you can do is put the group that did the repeat chapter(s) on your ignore list. Then you won't see anything from them.

That's not a given. Usually when this sort of thing happens one group ends up quitting early because they don't see the point in spending so much time doubling up on the same title. Then the other group goes on alone for a while and if/when they drop it there's nobody left to pick up the slack.

People are annoyed at the snipe because someone who just wants to work on something as practice would be better served picking a series that needs translation rather than latching on to something that's being worked on currently and regularly.

I kinda disagree with you there a lot of manga whose translate group take their sweet time to translate "which i don't have right to say this since most of them are doing for free I think" when someone take it over from them they appear and snap if they want no one to take their place they should be fast, which i think this is what happened here but it seems it got approved way to late

I'd agree with you if the previous TL group either explicitly said they're dropping it or didn't post their TLs and letting the series gathering dusts for 4 months++ or so
