I'm being nitpicky here, but knowing the actual context (from the anime even), Eclair's last dialogue translation:
"Why do you have a sword?!?!"
That translation felt wrong, ngl. Like, she's wasn't exactly mad because he was carrying around a sword, she was mad because he bought 'that' sword, his powerful sword relic. So, I feel like it would have been better if the translation made it to be:
"Why do you have 'THAT' sword?!?!"

Exactly according to Cry's plan. See, he used reverse psychology by saying not to bring a sword, so that ark WOULD bring a sword. Why? Because it wouldn't be a trial if things were easy.

The fight wasn’t shown in the LN either, it was just implied that the fight was pretty challenging for Ark and his party. The winning condition is to rip the mask off the little girl without killing her, but she was made to be as strong as the average hunter so it was pretty tough to restrain her without leaving a permanent injury, so any decent attacks were off limits
