Naaah, Carla just unluckily happened to mention "Ashley" and Lucas blatantly hates him. Nishina also has funny reactions when he's mentioned... Because of him being playboy-ish, his "women radar" and risk of him revealing to all that 'Lucas is a man? nah, she's a girl obviously'.

I think it's a bit of a strech... Nishina wasn't like Minami and Hiroki, remembering things before whole school drama started. I guess he could remember that Ashley was stabbed right before his eyes, so it should be safe identity to claim. And that's it. The rest was more like inevitable than cold-blooded planning on his part. Though I can't blame Ooki for thinking about it this way...
Also, I totally don't remember if it was mentioned that Carla liked Ashley back then. She surely didn't act on it at all. Though Ooki definitely had a soft spot for "Ashley"...
Looking at the previous chapters, I don't think it will end that soon, maybe at least 50 more chapters. There are still many things we don't know. This manga has one of the slowest paces I know, but that's also what makes it good, as every character gets a spotlight.
