Normally to talk about news one would start by linking at least an article, but I'm just going to quote the description of this subforum: "Discussion forums for Anime/Manga/VN/LN related news." Unless there's a new title about WW3, this is not the site to discuss about it (maybe if the post is moved to Lounge it could be of some use). Short answer, it depends on what's your perspective on a World War but the number of countries at war is definitely increasing.

Yeah, I have... many thoughts about this particular set of current events, but given the prohibition against political discussion on the boards and the likelihood discussion of this topic would end up crossing that line, I think I'll keep those to myself.

I wouldn't be against having a dedicated sub-sub-forum for political discussion, but it would have to be quarantined pretty well, so you didn't just wander into it by accident. I don't really want it gunking up any of the rest of the threads - half of why I'm here is the general absence of a lot of real world crap.

Yeah that'll never happen. The mods don't really lurk around the forums as much anymore (compared to V3) so no way that's possible.
Remember that controversial videos thread that @Teasday found way later and had to shutdown? That had a long run.

It would just become a cesspit of conspiracy theories like it did in 2019. Critical thinking has left the planet and Occam's Razor may as well be a magic item in DnD to most folks.

Well, just look at how this thread was started, because "I find the news boring and I want someone to give me a quick answer". In a different site, the replies would also have had scams and sect ads besides said conspiracy theories.

but yeah, while I hate discussions about politics since it tends to make any forum toxic whatever side you are, I don't mind if there's a dedicated thread for it.

World Politics and crises are interesting, because it triggers the part of our brains that evolved to be strong in order to put more attention on the sabertooth tiger in the cave, rather than the working fire.
It also doesn't provide any value to the people interacting with it, instead giving and leaving them a feeling of impotent rage.
Honestly, interacting with the news kinda... It's very comparable to hatewatching, interacting actively with something you dislike immensely
