"No more rivals... no, I mean, we can't take more companions!"
She was right the first time.

"That's outright intimidation."
I think that's a bit of a weak word for what she did. Also, she looks absolutely tiny there.

"Those who cannot live by their own strength will eventually die in the streets."
Kind of true, but you can't expect great results by throwing someone out in a situation without any support to start. It's not like some survival game where you can punch a tree to get wood to build your dirt shack and get apples to feed yourself with.

Oddly, she's weaker against comments from other characters than her man.

Cute dragon.

Merchant: "can't i keep the half.." good lord it means when they are gone he will plan to take them back perhaps? better put a slave collar on him and let him feel how it is.

and fun that the dragon(?) teased her. i like it. i did hear stories about horses teasing their owners.. so fun to see it in a dragon(?) too. shows it got humor.

"free all your slaves now!"
seconds later
"they will die if we leave them alone"
...
While this manga is stupidly ironic for freeing slaves by supporting slave industry AND kidnapping industry, this chapter has a good point of how unrealistic the idea of "if X has good morality, he/she/it should've freed all the slaves immediately" is, especially in a large, nation-wide scale. It needs to be a gradual process

The slaves all had shitty enough lives that they ended up in slavery, whereupon they ended up with a low quality, but relatively stable life.
Then they turn up and are like "Let's take that sliver of stability away! Surely they can instantly bootstrap themselves into a perfect life!" - Jesus christ guys.
Had they left them alone, 90% would have ended up at another slave trader anyway as they lack a way to live by themselves, and the other 10% would be dead.

Man, your numbers are off the charts. It happened IRL before, when indentured servitude was abolished and serfs (you know, the local same-ethnicity-as-owner flavour of slavery) either left this world’s gene pool or instantly turned into criminal servitude for life. And ratio was not 10/90. Closer to 60/20/20, with only 20% finding better life.
