Wow the monster swarming really slows everything down. I am kind of annoyed though that he didn’t just wipe that swarm out with his massive ship, as there are bound to be many others. I get that they justified it by saying it slows down humans spreading but, they could have easily at least thinned the numbers.

Hopefully they get to meet the elves soon. Probably going to be the classic “elves fire a warning shot, then they both have a stand-off with high tension, before our elf explains the situation.”

They could've thinned the numbers, yeah, but what would that accomplish? Unless they obliterate the population to the point where the animals can no longer afford to attack, it doesn't matter if they kill half the monsters in the forest if the other half just keeps attacking anyway, because then they'd have to deal with those ones. And if they reduce the population to a point where they don't attack anymore, then as you+the chap said, at that point "Wataru's party can get through the forest" means "the people trying to actually invade can just as easily".

i mean they are from different species: wolf, monkey, insect. There is no reason at all for them to work together to hunt some intruders, instead of just killing each other for food.

I mentioned in the last chapter that I think it's the Dark Elves somehow controlling them. Because the monsters only when into a frenzy state AFTER he mentioned they were looking for them.

I was wondering if mc would be able to purchase an amphibious truck, like those WWII DUKW trucks that are used as tour boats. Then he could drive through the forest with the barrier up, unless the barrier can't be used to push objects out of the way. Or an amphibious truck doesn't count as a boat.

Hmm. A hover craft could work. Back when I was a wee lad, I have an R/C hover craft I used to drive around. I loved filling this one ditch with water just so I could drive it over it. Man, I miss that thing
