I love how politic and US's wanting to show their power has made situation worse, I refuse to believe no one there didn't realize the possibility of more cave-in.

So I guess all giant youkai throughout the world depicted in folktale, was basically Kaiju? I wonder how people in the old days kill them, considering things like Hiruko exist? And does that mean well, there are actually more Holes to Hollow Earth, that's maybe just closed naturally over time?

Considering our population explodes in the recent centuries (or perhaps after WW2), they probably hit coastal towns, ate every poor soul there, look around to found no more food in vicinity (as the next towns can be days away, and population is nowhere close to modern coastal cities to make up for the trip), and go back to the sea thinking they’ve exhausted the food supply.
