Dear mangakas: We're really freakin' tired of "I was impoverished and treated like trash and meat by amoral scum", as a reason that some character is the real pathologically depraved villain who needs to be taken down for the protection of us all.

Back in reality, we have very real wealthy sociopaths who treat billions of such "villains" this way (and being lauded like heroes by their media's propaganda). Why don't you go after them for a change?

Not defending this character in the slightest. I'm saying this trope is grossly overused.

It's misused in scenarios fabricated just to create a villain.
Here it's just Kamachi making yet another jab at China by presenting it as just as vile and hypocritical in the story as it is in real life.

I hear what you are saying. However, that very trope is the foundation of the Railgun and Index series. The abused and unwanted often become either villains or in the case of Kiyama-sensei, someone who became a villain to try to save the abused and unwanted. However, at this point, we do get how dark and horrible the Railgun/Index world is.

It's not that deep bro
How do you think the guy writes a novel a month
It's not by making astute geopolitical comparisons, it's by abusing tropes

Dear reader, I am very tired of hottakes where we are taking the top social and political gripes of the current year and using them to criticize longstanding series that have run on related themes for literally decades. A series that is built on the core idea of a clean and unassuming outside, and a dirty and brutal inside where people who are marginalized and abused on the edges become villains.

I am also tired of such commenters boldly assuming from the start that "we" all agree because such topics live rent free in your head so bad, you think everyone else must be thinking the same thing.

And I am deeply, intensely tired of such readers contradicting themselves just to make a stink. Who do you think abuses these people in this series? Who built this city or the magic side? The weak and impoverished?

"How dare you complain about Something I Like! You big complainy complainer!"

Fails to see that complaining about complaining is still complaining. And even more overused than the trope in question.

This is the same guy whose light novels contain the total sum of all information about the historical figure Aleister Crowley and his religious system of Thelema.
He absolutely does put in that much effort.
