I legit am traumatized by longer running series revealing their super-deep-emotional-heavy-mysterious and highly-complex secrets... and like 5 out of 5 in the past ~2 months have been the most flat mental gymnastic asspull low impact lame ass dogshit obvious mundane thing ever (Aitsu no Kanojo, Kanokari, Oyasumi Fumi-san just to name a few)

Ngl, Ima rate this a 10 if the author puts anything better on paper than all of these bums
You know it's going to be nothing. My guess is that he got framed for something silly and all of the girls in his class testified against him to cover for the real culprit. He's way too low self-esteem to actually have done something bad, and instead just started believing when people said he's bad. The dad says that spending time with a straightforward girl like Sou will be good for him:

Also there's no way this gets axed, it's at the height of its popularity right now.

It's not all that sudden, Sou had her epiphany quite a few chapters ago and has been making advances. Usually they milk this stage a lot longer but I like it when it gets to the point. Maybe it does end soon in under 50 chapters but I'd prefer something concise over being dragged out across 300 chapters.

Glad to see the sudden confession go well, at least with the rest of the people around them. Now to see how Sou himself handles her going forward and what this BS coming to visit them will involve.

A confession here along with its popularity makes me hopeful this won't be yet another series where the couple starts dating only for it to end the next chapter.

This being a lighthearted series, I'm sure the reveal will be a massive misunderstanding
It's lowkey not THAT light-hearted though. This is one of few will-they-won't-they romcom where everyone is reasonably grounded and people react in a realistic way.

Their parents are worried about their relationship, not all happy-go-lucky. Adults keep an eye on their children (except Nozdad who seems like a snoozefest). Nozomi and Sou act their age, being part naive and part unaware of their own per-pubescent feelings and emotions, being awkward about it, being overwhelmed about things, and not being able to articulate what is going on clearly.

There is always an overarching sense of unease, discomfort, awkwardness, and worry in every chapter.
