I...kind of have a problem with that toxic mindset. It's not surprising she has low self-esteem after two years with that other prince, but I wish Mr. Bear / Saryu offered a more constructive route rather than indulging this behavior. Tough to do on the spot like that though. Story-wise it'd be interesting if he really was involuntarily repulsed by it.

I don't think it's a test per se, just that she wants to know if it's a deal breaker for him before her feelings get any deeper b/c the harder she falls the more the rejection hurts.

Rather, it's just a little bit annoying when you open a bag labeled "fantasy romcom" but one half of the MC's personality is how he gets possessed by highschool first year Takeshi-kun, who freaks out because the girl he likes invited him over to study.

Nobody hires a random stranger from the streets as a butler, especially not a nobleman, a ruler of a fief. A butler would have access to a lot of strategically important intel and be able to subtly influence the affairs of the fief. This practically means it was no butler at all who served the drink. It was a total stranger who sneaked in. That does make one wonder just how lackluster were the safety measures in a party where a royal prince and her foreign princess fiancée were the stars of the show. The local lord has got some explaining to do. Not that I'd expect this particular story to bother with such things, as the one and only focus is the prince and princess's relationship.
