I've known him as Ichida this whole time but apparently it actually was Ichita the whole time...

I glossed over it when I did chapter one since I thought it was correct but to my surprise it ended up being wrong.

What about the name on the synopsis though? I got the name "Ishida" from there and the latest chapters also use it. Is it a retcon, difference in tankobon-magazine version or just a mistranslation on the synopsis?

That's probably a mistranslation. The name is 一 (Ichi, meaning one, when used as a name can be read in one of two ways, which is Ichi or Itsu) and 太 (Futo, meaning fat, thick, or plump, can be read as Tai or Ta)

Those are the only ways those characters can be read in the context of a person's name and the small text give away the author's chosen readings.

Ichita is an uncommon sounding name so it just sounds wrong somehow. While Ishida is more common but the common spelling of it uses completely different characters
