I don't really know how to answer without coming off as rather rude, so please don't take it that way, but I'd like you to read the original chapter 1s.

I personally have nothing against machine translations since I've found so many manga that I ended up really liking because of them, including this one.

If I had to say why I personally did this? The reason is because I thought it'd be nice if someone redid them so I just did it myself. I don't plan on going far, not past volume 1.

This isn't a snipe attempt or anything. More of an attempt at providing an alternate option to the original translation.

I’ll admit I haven’t read the beginning chapters in awhile. Was just curious why we’re starting from the beginning instead of continuing from what was left off. It’s a lot of work to do what has already been done before so it feels a tad bit of a wasted effort to do so

There’s another one that has a piss poor MTL but I’m blanking on the name of. MC gets kicked outta of a party and helps a 7 deadly sins demon lord lady beat the other demon lords to be more complete. I’ll link to it when I member it

Ryuuroden is another one we haven’t gotten anything new in a very long time and the series is fun

Right there are the kanji and furigana that shows how his name is spelled. On the top right part of page 11, there's also his name written in katakana.


To reiterate what I've said in another post regarding the name 'Ishida' that's used in the synopsis:

That's probably a mistranslation. The name is 一 (Ichi, meaning one, when used as a name can be read in one of two ways, which is Ichi or Itsu) and 太 (Futo, meaning fat, thick, or plump, can be read as Tai or Ta)

(Yes, it's probably alluding to that part of him.)

Those are the only ways those characters can be read in the context of a person's name and the small text give away the author's chosen readings.

Ichita is an uncommon sounding name so it just sounds wrong somehow. While Ishida is more common but the common spelling of it uses completely different characters.

As for Ichida? Well, た (ta) and だ (da) look close enough that it's easy to miss. Especially when the image quality isn't really the best. I thought it was Ichida as well until someone pointed it out and made me take a proper look

I do admit that from a practical standpoint it does seem like a waste of effort. I would see it that way as well if I weren't the one doing it. Putting aside how the original translation looks being a reason.

Why I'm doing it is not the most reasonable of reasons, in fact it's probably the most unreasonable reason that is most often used, but I'm simply spending my time redoing 114 pages of the first volume just because I love the manga.

It's a waste of effort, out of love, I suppose you could say?

I still make mistakes here and there with these translations, which is why I'm relying on others who also love it enough to read through them with me so we could end up with something better.

The end result is still something we all get to enjoy anyway so, it's not such a big waste is it? 😁

Still, it does seem to bother people that this manga pops up in their feed only for them to be met with a simple redo of something from 3 years ago, so out of consideration for them I'll upload 3 and 4 all at once when I finish my work on them.

Classic shounen manga? I've taken a quick glance at them and I apologize, CrimsonNanashi, they don't really suit my taste. As you can see with my preference for this manga, my taste is rather juvenile.

If you have ones more recent or ones as devoid of serious conflict as this manga, I would gladly take a peek at them. Ah, but it doesn't have to have breasts on display or anything, that's not quite the reason why I like this one after all

Both series are from the 90s so very different from when we would think of as shounen today imo. Honestly I’d put Ryuuroden as a seinen series instead of Shounen due to the stuff that happens in it

If a nonserious series is what you’re looking for then Shin Kotaro Juudoka would be it. The series does have its series moments via the battles but it’s very much a silly series full of gags and has a bit of pervertedness to it. Hades the MC plants mines to keep people off his land and it’s played off as a gag. It’s very similar to Ranma 1/2

Ryuuroden would indeed be a serious series though so if that’s not what you’re wanting don’t TL it

[-] Monster no Goshujin-sama
- Hasn't been updated in over a year

[-] Ryuuma no Gagou
- The translator that was doing this series hasn't touched it in 2 years and probably stopped translating in general. It has 16 remaining chapters left

Shingan no yuusha hasn’t had a new ch scanlated in years at this point, IIRC. And the more recent chs were cringely scanlated, so they need a redo. I don’t think it even has an official EN version.
