There's only two of them so far, but all of the girls he's turned seem to be attracted to him. I wonder if, despite saying he thinks Karasuma ought to be their leader, that on some level he's basically like the "alpha" of the... flock?

I think that why the two of them got attraction for him is more due because of his heroic act. Cat most likely felt that he was the one who saved her because the others were fighting her and similarly Tsubame was also attracted because of his early heroic activities.
Even if Karasuma is described as their vanguard , he is more like the guys who pulls the string from the shadows currently.
