This manga seriously needs an anime adaptation. If their culture truly is going for reinforcing positive values to children through manga and anime, this is a great choice.

I think this is a perfect example of how you don't need to be fantastic at art to make a good manga, so long as you make it with heart. Despite the fact that the drawings are simplistic and in many cases somewhat crude, the amount of emotion the author puts into their characters and the sheer lovability of Machida-kun makes it such an enjoyable read. 10/10. Fully deserves its rating, and has probably inspired quite a few people to be kinder to those around them.

I genuinely think that this is one piece of media where I can say it has changed me in someway, and certainly I think for the better.

I'll go against the grain here. Firstly, I don't understand why this series is categorised as shoujo. Is it because the magazine it was published in? It doesn't read like shoujo to me. The romance is underwhelming.

The formula of inserting a random character with a random problem in each chapter, followed by the main character going blindly to help, is so contrived.

Also, the MC remains unchanged and barely faces any conflict.

I realise this is a popular choice with a high rate, so the problem is probably me, but that's my two cents. I can see why people like it; it's just not for me.
