Jerk he may be, but her actions were ultimately her own bad choices. It's wrong to hold someone else accountable for another's shitty choices just cause they "said mean words!" likely why she improved in this life because he was right, she was in the end "only good for her pretty face" in the first life and that brought her to ruin when she made stupid choices because of her greed.

Lucky for her, she got SUPER LUCKY in life to get a second chance (LITERALLY) though one day I really want to see an Antagonist who GETS something like this and instead of "learning a life lesson" they SQUANDER it thinking THIS TIME they'll get better results from the same bad choice. Fuck up, get an even WORSE end, and stupidly assume they'll get a THIRD chance while the one who gave it to them shakes their head on how they could make a bad call like that.

Actually did find something like this! IT was in a manhua similar to "Cheating Men Must Die" (FMC being apart of an organization like Quantum Leap where she incarnates as a character with the same name as her and must prevent their bad end and get revenge for the OG soul upon those who did said OG wrong). The Antagonist of the arc this was about, was a woman who LOVED stringing men along and was a whore. The Woman once strung along a young man in the past who was starting his business, she dumped him long ago and she was reaching the point where she couldn't keep up her life style which is well "the natural result" of that of course! She shows REGRET when she sees him on TV now rich from the business she thought was a waste of time. But it's the "I shouldn't have turned him loose" type of regret! She ends up by some force getting Regressed to the point they were dating and instead of BEING a better person, she just STAYS with him and marries him....and STLL cheats on him with a HAREM of men, now on HIS DIME as a Rich wife. The FMC got involved cause her client was the soul of the guy's dead childhood friend who loved him, she wanted FMC to SAVE him from that woman because even though she died when they were young, she wanted him to be HAPPY and she KNOWS he isn't happy (the guy suspected his wife was cheating on him, but remained dense on purpose).

Short story, the Woman gets HERS because some of the men she was "five timing" was super rich as well and the second he found out about all that shit do to FMC and the Husband FINALLY getting the balls to divorce the woman. He has her "blackbagged" and send to some work camp in bumfuck no where to spend the rest of her life as a miner till she croaks! Again she doesn't regret ANYTHING except she's feels ENTITLED to a third chance that will never come! As a final move before leaving the FMC leaves him memories of his childhood friend and lets them speak, allowing them closure and him to start "getting more self- respect" and enjoy his life like his old love would want for him. Don't live to burn himself for others. Live for what HE wants! Kind of sad

We don't really know why he was a jerk, but I feel like the fact he was popping up at tea parties as a girl and being bullied was an implication that MC bullied him too in her first life.
Anyways, she probably would have walked to her death regardless. There's no way she wouldn't have friction with him because of her established selfish personality.

Scheming? Knowledge? She was just something the prince bounced on his waist that happened to learn state secrets and accidentally leak them. She didn't start studying seriously until her second life.
Who knows why she doesn't have at least a guard or two and some servants while at the orphanage though.

I was really hoping that was gonna be the twist, especially with the fact that he apparently covered her from the rain right before her execution. Would have loved it being both of them earnestly trying to improve themselves with their second chance.
