I use GIMP.
I'm using an older version of the typeface instead of the Variable version which allows control over the font weight. And using smaller px font due to a smaller image size does make it more apparent than in Kaijin Mira.

Right, makes sense, I did notice the text wasn't lining up with the newest version either, ligatures or not. Not necessarily a criticism but I'm sure you know why it so weirdly stood out to me lol

This is actually so good, and mostly short stories tend to end at main characters being friends which is annoying it feels like unfinished but this one started as they r dating secretly plus logically. Their reactions in almost all pages are priceless, side characters are also nicely written.
