I use GIMP.
I'm using an older version of the typeface instead of the Variable version which allows control over the font weight. And using smaller px font due to a smaller image size does make it more apparent than in Kaijin Mira.

Right, makes sense, I did notice the text wasn't lining up with the newest version either, ligatures or not. Not necessarily a criticism but I'm sure you know why it so weirdly stood out to me lol
