Actually, better to learn it right there in a safe space with expert criticism than in the wild against an unexpected opponent or tournament... I don't know if Crim had an schedule planned for her (I doubt it) so this might understandably crumble her plans but well, again, this is the perfect space to work on it and now she's with her as well.

So very smol.

Speed isn't everything. Reading the battle is more important.

"They're the basic moves, but done at such a crazy skill level."
That's what skill is about. Doing things well. It's not necessarily about knowing advanced moves.

Some things are better learned one after another. It's not so much whether you can do it, but learning the foundation first. And sometimes it's like practising before a test. Improve what you're already good at, and leave the new stuff for later. Some people will get thrown off learning new stuff and take a while until they find balance, while others just bring it into their technique little by little so they get used to it. In most duels and battles, most people forget about anything they've not practised a lot.

If you want the spoiler:
Crim want Hinagiku to enjoy the game first and foremost.
Ra-sen's manual parrying is such a high skill move that Crim think trying to learn it first will just lead to a lot of failures and suffering.
So Crim wanted Hinagiku to learn/have fun parrying from the easier Shiramakuri where as long as you get the timing right the universe will bend to your rule of cool.

By the end of the arc Crim realized she was wrong, putting in the effort IS something Hinagiku enjoy so the high hurdle was not an issue.

So in the end Crim suggest that Hinagiku try to learn the mid-guard/center role, where her job IS to be adaptable.
Sometimes she'll be the blade at the front.
Sometimes she'll be the shield for the back.
Sometimes she'll play bait to distract enemies.
It's the most demanding of roles, but Crim believe Hinagiku can manage.

I totally understand Crim's reasoning. Games are meant to be enjoyed. The "git gud" grind isn't remotely for everyone. I certainly get no satisfaction from it. But if Hinagiku finds that rewarding, more power to her!

Super-VR game mechanics aside, the oni lady has a point.
Muscle memory is faster than conscious thought, and your sense of touch (i.e. transmitted through the sword in your hands) is weirdly faster than your visual reaction time.

Flashy super moves are nice, but as the saying goes, one should indeed fear the man who has practiced one kick 10,000 times.
