The context was totally different when Calliope did it. The crowd had turned on Akira, and it was very apparent she was taking control of the situation to cool things down. Tessa doesn't look like she has another motive besides crushing him.Calliope's initial introduction didn't endear her to me much, but by this point she must be one of my favorite characters. There's a certain irony in her passionate defense of Akira, when she was basically playing Tessa's role back then.
On a different note, Tessa's outfit is so obviously a sailor fuku that it's a little distracting. I assume Akira's thoughts are meant to be hanging a lampshade on it but it feels too indirect.
