Woah these translation notes are GREAT, thank you! I had no idea about the specific trees involved here at all. Delighted to check out the re-translations too. Thank you for your hard work!

Instead of assuming that they "put down whatever that sounds logical and call it a day" - take a step back and reevaluate yourself. You've disparaged the group multiple times in different chapters and in comments. It's the more mature and logical route to say "hey, I'm going to re-translate these chapters" WITHOUT putting down people who worked hard on 4 chapters because they all enjoyed the manga. And I know that as a fact, because I was the redrawer.

They didn't just slap down just anything, they spent hours discussing the best TL (without machine translators) and if it wasn't good or as accurate as you wanted it to be, then that's fine.

It's the fact that we worked on a manga we all loved, albeit for a very short time, and it doesn't deserve the hate-shaming you're leading. Your translations are good, but your attitude about this is off-putting.

yeah… damn dude. the original translations definitely could’ve been more literal but you’re acting like they personally offended you :/ your tone and word choice are not nearly as enjoyable to read, if you insist on comparing. “solo female hiker” is wayyyy clunkier and a lot less fun.

I think it’s reasonable to keep in mind that the vast majority of us wouldn’t know about this series if not for the first group, no? do you need to be reminded that they’re living, breathing people who might’ve been proud of their work? I don’t see any of the previous scanlators asking for money either, on that note.

I know there's the joke about how anything fried and battered is good eatin', but I'd never think to eat tempura maple leaves.
In fact, I don't even know if I've heard of anything but caterpillars and other bugs eating tree leaves, isn't lignin kinda... tough? That stuff barely even composts. Well, TIL!
