The "abandoned" old school house, huh? How many dozens of suspicious individuals were lurking there?

Anyway the tonitrus hag is saving the day and Loyd is saving Henderson's job. I have a feeling Anya will get a stella for this... and a tonitrus too of course!

This arc feels so bizarre... The manga did have lots of comedy before, but this still seems much more, uh, in-your-face, with puppet-wielding villain teachers.
yeah I've been feeling the same the last few chapters

like, we always had over-the-top physically abnormal shenanigans with the assassins and spies and all that, but it was really limited to those spheres, making readers think it's just that those people are special, had special training, or something like that

now we have had shounen gimmick battles with kids against faculty staff, and it has felt pretty bizarre yeah :aquadrink:

as opposed to precognitive dogs, face-shifting disguise masters and assassins simply walking off being shot.
I think a good way of approaching the difference is that neither of those were "ordinary" people. No one suspects Bond to be a precog, or Anya to be a mind reader, because life for the everyman is pretty much like ours was a few decades prior.

However, the current arc does not feature secret agents as villains, but teachers of an ordinary (if prestigious) grade school. And even more weirdly, they get beaten by grade schoolers. That's like straight out of a fairy tale book.

The tone of this arc feels all over the place... Mr. Henderson being unjustly fired should be emotionally powerful, and a serious note in the story... But instead we're watching a bunch of goofy gag character fight scenes with the children...?

It's not like the children are incapable of serious arcs, either. More than half of the schoolbus hijacking was spent with them, and it was largely played straight.

Also if Schlag was going to show up to effortlessly beat everyone anyway, the kids' effort in getting the proof was pointless.

I'm really not vibing with this.
