I do not get why MC was so invested in her despite not seeming that find of her prior. I guess he was a tsundere even as Brice? Like maybe he had a feeling she had a dogshit childhood prior but it seems like he just doesn't want to have a friend die?

Maybe it's the child body? Post back story the investment makes way more sense, I think he has a soft spot for kids forced to grow up too fast or something. Oh well, back story was about as bad as could be expected and explains why she's a mid spy.
