This is really clever. I was expecting him to either win first place or last. But having his manga get published this way is a lot more interesting.

The art on page 27 was insanely emotional.

He went overly meta that he skipped the prize and went straight to publication. Suffering from success.

Or maybe it didn't win back then because the two judges at the previous chapter knew MC and decided that the work is made with professional help and it's unfair to put it in an amateur contest.

I've lived the "willing to die for this shit" mantra. If you ever lived it the shit you're willing to put up with when looking back will scare you on how tf you got past it when you can't even fathom dealing with a quarter of that now.

Typo on page 27, missing the word "takes"
Also, the boy looks 40 on the next page

This manga almost hits close to home for me from growing up in poverty, being latino, and reaching for your dreams. Not even wanting to be famous but doing something with passion in the arts.
You can do it my guy
Maybe not publising in Jump, but there are plenty of sites and communities to post on, especially on Reddit. You can find your audience. More art (human-made art, not AI slop) is always good

And yeah, can relate.. well except for latino part

I just caught it. The editor lady who brought up the 14 page manga was in the previous chapter as the judge who liked the work.
