It could work if she was actually greedy.
Greedy people do what they can to profit, seeing a great business prospect like this an actual greedy person would seek to get as big as a piece of the pie as they can. Maribel wants to destroy it so she can make her own pie. That's not greedy, that's insatiable. That's being ambitious for the purpose of just being ambitious. Wanting to be number 1 because you want to, no other thoughts behind it.

A true example of an greedy person is Yuki.
