Stories like this are rare.

Despite the cutesy art style... they are unmistakably adults... they shagged XD.

But jokes aside, what is truly impressive is... the lack of juvenile awkwardness, don't mistake for the lack of normal awkwardness, what I mean is the almost infantile way adults act in mangas, like they are overgrown children that can't talk with each other without blushing a storm.

Such things have their place, even in real life... but adults, no matter what the issues they have, are able to communicate in ways children don't.

The author of this manga understands this. Despite Takaharo being very centered and assured, he has his little quirks and insecurities, he was hurt by the sudden breakup, but he kept going, living his life, and despite Kyou being almost the quintessential cutesy love interest, she is a single mother who dealt with all the challenges that come with the territory.

Both of them are unmistakably adults.

To be fair, adults like that aren't uncommon irl, some people just don't really grow up emotionally and stay that way their whole life.

Yeah, but they aren't children either, there are very clear differences.

But saying more would be me trying to resume the entirety of the human psych is a single comment, I am not arrogant to that point.

Lets say, I agree and disagree with you in different measures.

Maybe her family cut ties with her because of the pregnancy and she thought takaharu wouldn't be able to take the time to care about her and the daughter with his job being so busy:aquadrink:
How many times must it be said, she's not his daughter! Ages don't match, 17 years since breakup, daughter's age 14.

Hence why they wrote “the daughter” instead of “his daughter” or “their daughter”.

Very sad flashback :meguuusad: :meguuusad: :meguuusad:
Especially when Takaharu crying and glad he found out Kyou still alive. He never erase her in his memory and in his heart a little bit. He just burried it. It's still there, always.

Hmm, true, my previous comment was based on that idea, but it really seems like she left him due to some kind of family divorce on her side (?), then married and had a kid.

When her parents divorced maybe they didn't want her with them, so she had to move out of the family home to live by herself, so she had to go find work to do and didn't think that staying in school was the right move, and she didn't want to burden the MC cuz he was focusing so much on his exhibition that he didn't even want to see her for probably weeks or months....which is why she ultimately broke up with him, she didn't want to distract him, and the MC was too much of a pussy to say anything back.

If the MC had a spine and had realized earlier that he was giving up something far more important, then this story probably wouldn't be happening now, he would have stopped her from breaking up with him and asked her to live with him while she got a job nearby, or he would have asked her back out over the phone when he called her months later when she was in another city. Instead he just gave her a lifeline and then stopped contacting her for 17 years lmao

he actually called her few months after to tell her she can depend on him for whatever she needs even if it was food

Yeah, once, several months after she left and only that time...and it was an extremely half assed attempt. What he should have done was called her, asked to meet with her and try to rekindle their relationship. Instead he just left an open offer to "rely on him if she needed it" but if she was willing to do that, she would have relied on him instead of moving away to get a job in the first place.
