What if all the experiments and foolish attempts Alyssa's mom had done in the name of childcare for her daughter had the side-effect of extending her life which is the reason she's so petite now and will take longer to fully grow?

The only problem is that the witches appear to just have really long life spans naturally. It could just be that she's someone that just didn't grow that much during puberty. Short petite people exist in real life.

i agree with you here, it's also the running gag of the entire manga that the mom who's like 400 years old is shorter and less... "stacked" than her 16 year old daughter, and it's also said through some interactions with her friends that she's a complete abnormality
