Did some research, the author is basically writing stuff like BL here and Yuri in Mobsekai to troll readers and subvert genre expectations. He is basically saying "MC isn't the center of the universe". Don't expect this to go away, it will continue, but it won't really move beyond gag level.

What I'm reading from that is that the author is a closeted homo inserting his fetish in his work, but he knows that his sales would tank if he went too far, so tries not to got all the way.

I wish he would stop with this disgusting gag. It does nothing but taint the experience.

It's already sad that Leon doesn't get laid.
