It's childish/cutesy and normally you'd write "tan" as "-たん" (i.e. in Hiragana).
But you could use Katakana, then it would be become "-タン"
With Katakana n (ン) and so (ソ) looking pretty similar being the root, so that's where this comes from.
You could say it's an over-exaggerated cutesy way to express Sou's affection and respect for Hana here.

I know that Sou is denser than a neutron star, but I'm confused that none of the girls have really discussed Sou's abnormality seriously. Kaede is not that close to him, it's probably the normal distance for an escort if the space around them itself isn't all that wide. Remember, they are on the train right now. Aya on the other hand seems to be pretty close here, but in this case it was likely Suzuki himself who approached her - to get a better view.
